So what exactly are Growums? They are basically themed garden kits that allow kids to grow complete gardens from seed to harvest. They come in six different varieties including a Taco Garden, Pizza Garden, Stir Fry Garden, Herb Garden, Ratatouille Garden, and Salad Garden. Each garden has it's own characters that come to life when you register your garden online where you'll get to play games, watch videos, and even track the progress of your garden.
We were recently sent a Growums Salad Garden kit to review and I was really surprised at how simple the process was. You see, I have no "green thumb" whatsoever so I really needed the simplicity of the Growums kit to help me out!
First, we set our provided pellets into a pie plate (as suggested on the directions) then we added water and watched them expand. Next, we added 3 seeds to each pellet and stuck in the plant tags so we knew what was what. And last but not least, we put our plants out in the sun and watched them grow!
Day 1: We just planted our seeds
Day 9: We have sprouts!
Day 17 (Today): Still growing...
Our gardens been growing for a little over two weeks now and to be totally honest, I'm surprised I've actually been able to keep the plants alive! Brayden and Trevor love to watch the little sprouts get bigger and bigger and we can't wait for the day when we get to pick our first vegetable.
Think Growums would be a hit with your little ones? You can find them at in store at Lowe's and Wal-Mart, online at growums.com, and through fundraisers for schools and other organizations for only $9.99 each.
One lucky reader is going to win a Growums kit of their choice so their little ones (or themselves) can grown their own little garden too!
