Modern Furniture from Interior Addict

We've had our sofa and love seat for a little over 5 years now and it has seen better days. It's been spit up on by infants, slept on by a puppy, and scratched to death by a kitten... Needless to say now that we're out of the infant stages with our boys and our pets we've been looking into getting some new furniture.

When it comes to furniture we're looking for something that's modern, yet functional. I want it to look good and feel comfortable at the same time. Since my mom lives in Maine and occasionally comes to PA to visit we're in need of a sofa bed so she can sleep comfortably when she's here.

While browsing Interior Addict, which is a contemporary furniture company based in the UK, I fell in love with a gorgeous Novara Sofa Bed that would look perfect in our living room. What's great about this particular sofa is the fact that it serves as a fully functional sofa during the day and it can be easily configured to form a bed at night... Talk about a functional piece of furniture!

Guest Post: Top 5 Ways to Save Money

Can you afford your bills? Can you walk into a grocery store and buy what ever groceries that you need? With the cost of living getting higher every day, it gets harder and harder to pay our bills. I have put together a list of the top 5 ways to save money.

1.) Coupons, Coupons, Coupons. Do you use coupons? If not then you should. I am not saying that you have to jump in and be an extreme couponer but just using a few coupons here and there can save you big money.

2.) Pair your coupons with sales. When you do this you get the most from the coupon and your money. It is one of the best ways to stretch your dollar.

3.) Cut your cable bill back. You can save a lot of money each month by cutting out extra channels you probably don't even watch. What do you do if you have already cut it back you ask? Did you know that you can talk to your provider to see if there are any deals that you can get. I have done this many times, you just go in to the office or give them a call. Tell them it is getting hard to keep up with and you are looking around for better deals and wanted to know if they have anything to offer. They might not always have something available, but I have found that most of the time they do.

4.) Use your freezer. Almost everything can be frozen, eggs, milk, bread, meat, fruit and so much more. When you find items on a great sale and you have coupons its a great time to stock up. But you might say I only have a family of 2 or 3, how will we eat 5 dozen eggs before they go bad? Freeze them! Not all things come out the same after being frozen, but you still can use them. With eggs crack them open and scramble them up then pour them into ice trays. After they are frozen you can put them in freezer bags and use them as you need them. If you freeze a banana it might come out on the mushy side to just eat. However they work great in banana bread or smoothies.

Guest Post: 5 Ways To Increase Your Child's Emotional Intelligence

From the moment this precious bundle of joy is handed into your arms, she starts learning from you.

She learns if she cries, and you respond or don’t.

She learns that it hurts when she pulls your ear by the ear-ring, and you say “Ouch!”

She watches and learns by your actions and re-actions to every single act of voice, movement, and emotional expression.

As parents, we teach them a lot. From how to take the first step to where the limits are when it comes to human morals and values.

You as a parent and a guardian of this precious child cannot depend totally on schools to fulfill the most difficult, yet one of the most desirable rights, and duties at the same time, to raise a child with high Emotional IQ.

What is an Emotional IQ?
Emotional IQ is an ability to perceive, control and evaluate emotions.

Many in the academia are arguing what is more important: Intelligence IQ or Emotional IQ.

In my humble opinion, it’s not about what’s more important. Both are in high demand. The argument is being made to support the development of the “intelligent” side in a child, and ignore the emotional element of it.

A child with mature to her age emotional IQ behaves better. She responds to learning process with an open mind, thus, accumulates more data, i.e., knowledge.

Children with a more developed emotional intelligence use their emotionality during any learning process: whether it is learning how to walk or how to read.

Guest Post: Blueberry Bread Muffins Recipe

It is that time of year again to go blueberry picking here in Virginia. We picked the biggest and most plump blueberries on the bushes. Not to self, wear longer short if you plan on putting your whole body into the bush to find these prized blueberries. I am currently suffering from chiggers.

I call these Blueberry Bread Muffins as I modified the Blueberry Bread Recipe from Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms Cookbook. I was in a hurry to make a blueberry breakfast treat so I decided to try this recipe in muffin form instead.

Guest Post: Stylish One-Piece Swimsuits

Can you believe we’re already in the middle of July?  Summer is in full swing and I plan on practically living in my swimsuit until Labor Day weekend.  Whether you’re a mom who’s constantly running around after your little ones or you just never really got the whole bikini thing, many of us simply feel more comfortable in a one-piece swimsuit. Designers are definitely catching on and they’re starting to get creative, creating innovative and fashion-forward styles with amazing coverage. If you’re looking for a stylish one-piece swimsuit, this post is a must-read!

If you’re into the classic one-piece swimsuit styles with the traditional two-shoulder strap design, you’re probably tired of seeing the same old dark and dreary colors everywhere.  Opt for something in a bright summery color, a chic allover print or something with some texture.

Classic One-Pieces pictured above:

But for women who want to avoid tan lines on your chest, look for a one-piece swimsuit with a strapless bandeau-style neckline.  Most styles come with one or two removable straps so you get the bust support you need and the sun-kissed tan you deserve!  Choose styles featuring trendy prints, such as a chic animal print, watercolor-inspired pattern or an allover floral motif.
