TAG by Shari J. Ryan {ARC Review}

by Shari J. Ryan

What if your family had a big secret . . . a life changing secret. My dad, the bigwig CIA agent, was always on the run, whether he was being chased or doing the chasing. I missed him. Then my mom passed away, and my sister was murdered. I turned my solitude to strength because the alternative was too bleak.

But my luck seemed to turn: I met Tango. And while I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my twenty-two years, danger lurks around every corner and I simply can’t take the chance of it finding me. But his tattoos, his smell, his darkness, and his body— that marine has taken over my every thought. But, what if he too isn’t what I think? A ticking time bomb isn’t going to leave me much time to waver. Even the bravest person can be in need of a miracle.

Before she was gone, my mom warned me to know everyone and trust no one. But what was I supposed to do when I found out I am the one not to be trusted? Turns out, I was always the bait in this conspiracy.

In author Shari J. Ryan’s gripping novel, TAG, the canyons hold secrets, the waterfalls provide safety, and romance has a pesky way of showing up when you are sweaty and dirty and least expect it.

TAG pulled me in at the prologue and took me on a ride that I couldn't get enough of. It's a great combination of romance and suspense that'll leave you on the edge of your seat and hoping that everything will work out in the end.

Carolina has had a hard life for the past three years, first watching her mom die from cancer, then having her sister murdered right in front of her. But when we meet her we're shown right off the bat how strong she is and I knew I was going to love her.

Tango is absolutely amazing. He's been dealt a pretty crappy hand himself but he's dealing with it the best way he can. What he didn't plan on was Cali and the feelings she would evoke in him.

Neither are at a point in their life where they're looking for love but it turns out that that's exactly what they both need. They give each other the strength and will to survive and when death is literally knocking at your door, that's more than either could ask for.

I loved watching first the friendship, then the love blossom between Cali and Tango. There was definitely no insta-love since Cali's way too hardened for that, but I loved watching her give in to Tango. And Tango is so swoon worthy, how could she not?!

Of course the suspense was the perfect backdrop for their budding relationship. Cali has some bad guys after her that are trying to use her to get to her father... Only she has no idea where he is. When Tango reveals that what her father has could help him, he and Cali take off on a trek across Mexico to find him.

What ensues is romantic suspense at it's finest. The bad guys close in, Cali once again proves just how badass she really is, and some shocking secrets are revealed. Not to mention there are a few sexy times between Cali and Tango as well.

I was a little disappointed in the ending but overall this was a great read. Now if only there really was a secret cure for cancer out there somewhere...

Disclosure: I was provided with an ARC of TAG in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
