Wicked Ride (Realm Enforcers #1)
by Rebecca Zanetti
Coming June 23, 2015
Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.
Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…
I was in the mood for a good paranormal romance, so even though I have tons of books on my review schedule that should have been read before this one, I decided to veer off course and give this one a go... And let me tell you, Ms. Zanetti played on my paranormal heartstings and then some!
Possessive alpha hero? Check. Smoking hot sexy times? Double check! Throw in a badass heroine, demons, vampires, a very intriguing bear shifter, and some kick ass fire throwing? Wicked Ride has easily become my favorite paranormal read of the year!
I just gotta say that I loved Kellach... I'm talking, can I please get a piece of that, head over
Surprisingly enough, I even really liked Lex. At first, I wasn't really sure about her. I mean, I love bad ass chicks as much as the next girl, but sometimes she did take her "I'm a cop" attitude a little too far. That being said, Lex is a protector through and through, and though she may have taken a few things a little too far, I couldn't really fault her for it.
Characters aside, Wicked Ride was an awesome read in and of itself. Kell is a take charge realm enforcer that has gone undercover with his brothers in a Seattle Motorcycle Club to try to find out who's manufacturing a new drug called Apollo, that's not only dangerous to anyone who takes it, but to witches too.
After finding out that her dad was a drug dealer, Lex has been working hard her whole life to take down drug dealers. When she meets Kell, she's doing a little undercover work to try to fish out dealers (and buyers) to learn more about Apollo.
Of course, Kell and Lex get off on the wrong foot... What with her being a cop and him being part of an MC, among other things that he can't tell her about... So there's definite tension and misunderstandings between the two throughout the book. But ultimately, they learn that they have to come to an agreement to trust each other in order to make their relationship work.
Overall, Wicked Ride was an awesome read with plenty of action, suspense, and sexy times to keep me interested and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Disclosure: I was provided with an ARC of Wicked Ride through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
