Hannah and the Highlander by Sabrina York {ARC Review}

Hannah and the Highlander (Untamed Highlanders #1)
by Sabrina York

First in a brand-new series about the bold, brawny men of the Scottish Highlands—and the lovely lasses who bring them to their knees…

Highlanders are her weakness.

Hannah Dounreay has no time for suitors who only seem interested in her family’s land, which she manages as well as any man. If she marries, she wants to be loved for the educated, independent woman she is. But when a strong, silent—and spectacularly handsome—Highlander saves her from a violent attack, her heart is stirred. Who is this man? And if he asks for Hannah’s hand, will she be able to resist him?

Love is the most powerful weapon of all.

Alexander Lochlannach, Laird of Dunnet, has no time to lose. The Highlands are in an uproar as clans battle for land—without mercy—and Alexander can’t afford to fall for the wildly attractive, strong-willed Hannah. What’s more, he has a desperate secret, one that could destroy them both. But as their attraction turns into an all-consuming passion, Alexander has no choice but to prove to Hannah that he’s the only man for her—body and soul…

I've been in a bit of a reading slump and was in desperate need of a book to bring me out of it. Luckily, Hannah and the Highlander did just that.

The first time Hannah sees Alexander she can't take her eyes off of him, and when he comes to her rescue when one of her suitors gets violent? She foolishly throws herself at him only to be rejected. To say she captured my attention from the get-go would be an understatement and I couldn't wait to see her get her man.

Of course Alexander endeared himself to me as soon as I was given a glimpse inside his head. The fact that he wants Hannah wholeheartedly and doesn't hesitate to visit her father and ask for her hand? Sigh! Too bad the poor man just doesn't know how to act around her once they're together.

It was a little frustrating to watch Alexander distance himself from Hannah in the beginning, but once we learned his reasons why, he endeared himself to me even more. Luckily, Hannah caught on rather quickly and managed to find ways to get to know him a little better. And once they started opening up to each other they were absolutely perfect for each other.

This was such a sweet historical romance with a little suspense thrown in... Add in some sexy times, a couple laugh out loud moments, and Hannah and the Highlander was exactly what I was looking for. While this was my first Sabrina York read, it most certainly won't be my last and I can't wait for the rest of this series to be released!

Disclosure: I was provided with an ARC of Hannah and the Highlander through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
