Revealed to Him (Kerr Chronicles #3)
by Jen Frederick
Coming November 3, 2015
Handsome and tough Jake Tanner, a veteran and the owner of a successful security firm, never lets his past hold him back. Despite his prosthetic hand and foot, women swoon over him—and with him between the sheets. Yet Jake feels bored and restless…until he’s hired to protect a beautiful writer whose life is in terrible danger.
Self-imprisoned by the fear of the anonymous stalkers who threaten her life, video-game writer Natalie Beck now only dreams of the world outside her pink-bedecked apartment. Trusting people again is off-limits. But the more time Jake spends with her, the more his professional commitment evolves from simple duty to scorching desire. While deeply sensual sparks ignite between the two, the danger outside circles closer. Will Jake’s intense devotion be enough to save Natalie? Or will she turn away from the one man willing to do anything to save her?
I haven't read the first two books in this series but when I read the blurb for Revealed to Him I couldn't not read it. Luckily, even though some of the characters were introduced in the previous books, this one completely stands on it's own.
After reading a few early reviews I was a little wary going into this one but I can honestly say that I actually enjoyed the slow building romance in the beginning. Was it a little strange that Jake and Natalie didn't see each other face to face until 50% of the way through the book? Absolutely! But the way they got to know each other through phone calls and texts was so original and sweet that I couldn't help but want to watch it all play out. And when they do finally come face to face? Wow! Totally worth the wait!
Natalie and Jake are both dealing with their own issues throughout the book. Natalie dealing with her agoraphobia, plus dealing with threats on top of that, makes it really hard for her to meet new people. And Jake, while he has pretty much learned to live with the fact that he is an amputee, he still has some vulnerability when it comes to his prosthetic's that makes intimacy with Natalie a little hard. Luckily, they are absolutely perfect for each other and they help each other overcome their issues.
While I really enjoyed the romance aspect, I was really hoping for a little more suspense. There is a whodunnit factor which is why Natalie and Jake meet in the first place but honestly I felt like all of that was just in the background. Of course it probably doesn't help that I had a pretty good idea of who the baddies were from the beginning but I was still hoping for some decent suspense and, unfortunately, I didn't get that.
Overall though I really enjoyed Revealed to Him and I'm definitely looking forward to more books in this series... Especially Kaga and Sabrina's book!
