Dark Alpha's Claim by Donna Grant {ARC Review}

Dark Alpha's Claim (Reaper #1)
by Donna Grant

Coming November 17, 2015

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I am coming for you...

My whole existence is based on taking what Death wants. Born to eliminate Fae guilty of unforgivable crimes, my reckless, wild nature makes me the perfect assassin to carry out Death's bidding. I've seen more sinister and violent dealings than anyone could ever imagine. But it was the sight of her face that stopped me cold. I've never wanted a woman-never mind a human-so badly; never felt my heart, hardened by death, burn brighter and hotter until it burst into flames. She is everything I desire. The kind of woman that compels you to stake your claim on her, to let the world know that she's yours. A Reaper saving her life will only attract danger, but I vow to protect her at all costs from the Fae that hunt her, and keep safe the woman who has claimed me, body and soul.

As a fan of paranormal romance I always get really excited when something different comes out. Don't get me wrong, I love shifters and vampires as much as the next girl, but I love that when it comes to paranormal you can always expect to find something that hasn't been overdone... Like Reapers, for example.

Dark Alpha's Claim is the first book in a new series that revolves around a group of Fae called the Reapers. As assassins that carry out Death's bidding, Reapers are forbidden from having relationships and falling in love. They're supposed to rely on their brotherhood and no one else... So what happens when a Reaper falls in love? Death comes a knocking and she is not happy.

As part of the Reapers, Baylons' newest order is to kill half-Faes... Of course he knows he can't follow through with the order even before he meets Jordyn, a half-Fae that has no idea she's not human, but after meeting her, Baylon will break all the rules to make sure she's safe.

Baylon and Jordyn feel an immediate pull towards each other from the get-go and there's no denying their chemistry so Baylon promises Jordyn one night and then he's prepared to walk away. I love that there's this fated mate feel to it... They both feel the pull and even though they know the consequences, there's absolutely no way they can give each other up.

Along with the romance, there's a good amount of danger and suspense involved that kept me on the edge of my seat. Not only are we worried about the Dark Fae that are after Jordyn and trying to find out who's behind it all but there's also that question of what'll happen when Death finds out that Baylon broke the rules and fell in love.

We're left with a cliffy at the end regarding the baddies and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series to see how it all plays out... Not to mention watching the rest of the Reapers fall in love and get their HEA.

Disclosure: I was provided with an ARC of Dark Alpha's Claim through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Dark Alpha's Claim sounds fantastic, Danielle! I have read stories with reapers before, but not mixed with fae :) I want to read this, too! Great review.
