Stop at Nothing by Kate SeRine {ARC Review}

Stop at Nothing (Protect and Serve #1)
by Kate SeRine

When a high-profile investigation goes wrong, FBI Agent Kyle Dawson is transferred back home where he is forced to confront his demons…and the only woman he ever loved. Three years ago, Kyle and Abby Morrow shared a wild, passionate summer—then Abby broke his heart.

Kyle never stopped loving Abby. So when Abby uncovers evidence of a human-trafficking ring, leading to her sister’s kidnapping, he swears he’ll stop at nothing to bring her sister home and keep Abby safe. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse and blindsided by their own explosive desires, they must set aside the past before it’s too late.

This was my first time reading anything by Kate SeRine and I wasn't really sure what to expect going into Stop at Nothing... Luckily, other than wanting a little more closure at the end, I really enjoyed this one.

Kyle and Abby spent a passionate summer together three years ago before Abby ended it and they haven't talked to each other since. As soon as Kyle's transferred back to his hometown he knows he needs to get in touch with Abby in order to move on... But what happens when you find out the woman you still love is in danger? Well, you step in to save the day of course.

Abby had a good reason for breaking things off with Kyle and he's the last person she expects to show up when she's in trouble. And even though she lies about the extent of danger she's actually in, Kyle sees right through her lies and demands she let him help her.

You can feel their love and heartbreak right from the get-go with these two. As soon as Abby sees Kyle for the first time she runs right into his arms and you just know that there's no denying the depth of their feelings. A lot of times I have issues with second chance romance and all the hostility that can be involved and I'm so happy to say that we didn't really get much of that with these two. Sure there's some hurt feelings and residual anger but that doesn't make them deny the love that's still there.

And can I just say how happy I am to read that they were both celibate during their time apart! So often you read second chance romance where the hero was out whoring around with randoms to try to get over the heroine, while she's sitting at home pining away rather than trying to move on. We all know how much I prefer a man that does a little chasing but if I don't get that in a hero I at least want one that doesn't turn into a manwhore to try to get over the hurt.

Okay, enough about the romance... Not only is there a great love story in this one but we also get some great suspense. There were definitely a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I'm really hoping we get a future book about Abby's sister to see how her life turns out.

Overall, while I was hoping for a little more closure regarding a pretty big topic with Abby and Kyle, I really liked this one and will definitely be checking out other Kate SeRine books when I get a chance!

Disclosure: I was provided with an ARC of Stop at Nothing through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Stop at Nothing sounds really good, Danielle! And I love that Kyle showed up just when Abby needed some serious help!
